Studio Brief 3 - Interim Crit

Talk on Progress

It was said within the crit that the identity would need to have
- a narrative that is consistent
- Physical and digital flyers which can be the same
- Social media which can use elements from other formats, but would need build up to the event as well as continuation through the exhibition.
- Catalogue
- Signage

It was said that instead of naming the blocks full, empty and available they should instead be occupied, available and empty.

It was suggested that the blue could be altered for the background to better reflect a blueprint colour or possibly even use Klien Blue.  It was suggested that images of the events could be clipped to fit behind the boxes which would allow a connection to the different events. It was suggested that the exhibition could be broken into the three categories to correspond with the three types of box (occupied, available and empty). These could be loosely interpreted e.g. the suffragettes would be occupied because of them chaining themselves to railings etc.

It was suggested that for the catalogue this could be an A2 print which would reflect the idea of an architectural plan, which would then fold down to a smaller scale. Blocks could be used to define each person and their event. In terms of typography for the catalogue / posters it was said that the type could follow the isometric grid and become diagonal. Using a map on the reverse of the catalogue could allow the blocks to be positioned in the correct locations to create a heat map of events.

It was suggested for a countdown on social media the blocks could be used and slowly pieces are taken away.

It was also said that we would need another typeface for body text and headings.
For wayfinding it was suggested that the designs could be put on the ground or walls using vinyl.
