Halftoning for Screen printing
During the crit issues were raised about how the designs would be created, in particular the catalogue print because of the lack of availability to do double sided printing at that scale. It was decided that one side would be digitally printed with the print on the other side being screenprinted.
To do this all of the images would have to be halftoned in a contrasting colour to the different coloured cubes, allowing the cubes and numbers to stand out against the background.
Possible colour combinations can be seen in the sets of blocks above. The halftone effect would be applied to both the event images within the posters and on the print images within the catalogue poster to create consistency. This would also mean that all the physical material would be able to be screen printed, maintaining the traditional print aesthetic.
When the images were halftoned it was found that the blue background showed through, which allowed the images to contrast well. The black was the clearest, however the white and yellow half tones are quite intriguing.
