Mock Up Layout with Content
Using the column grids previously looked at, the content of the booklet has been placed within this layout, with similar information collated under headings e.g. colour and subheadings of specific information. By placing all the information into the column grids and printing / cutting them out, this allowed the sections to be arranged in order, enabling a better understanding of how the content would flow within the book. Sticking the pages together allowed a mock up to be created allowing for better visualisation of the content.
It was found that some information especially on colour had to be placed across multiple pages because of the range of research. The information was separated into categories so that similar information was on the same page. The pages with information that came under the same headings were placed consecutively to create a flow between content. The analysis of the colour swatch would be placed on the first page so there is a natural progression from the image to the writing about it.
It was also found that the headings looked awkward when not aligned with the subheadings so these would need to be adjusted for the final design.
When adding images to the grid system it was found that gaps would be needed in-between them and the text to create space between the different elements, avoiding a cluttered appearance. Also balancing the amount of images across the different pages would be important to create consistency.
