Studio Brief 3 - Final Presentation

Presentation and Feedback

Overall feedback from both the final crit and presentation to the Second years was positive. It was said that we presented well and it was commented on that the physical presentation was well designed. It was suggested that there was strong consistency across the whole identity and that the name and branding were linked well. It was also said that the branding was innovative and informed.

The group felt that the interactive flyers were interesting and would work well in engaging the public with the exhibition. Also their format, it was said was interesting in not being confined to A4 or A5.

It was suggested that potentially the catalogue print may be better used on the posters as well, because it was said that it was visually striking. It was also said that although a strong concept the design may look a little corporate and neat which may not reflect traditional print as much. The mock ups that were created were all digitally printed which wasn’t reflective of how the design was going to be produced, using a combination of both digital and traditional methods, possibly making it harder for the group to visualise the designs. If screenprinted they would have been less clean, reducing the feeling of corporate branding.

It was also commented on that there is already a Dimensions music festival which may create confusion, however it was said this could solved by adding an extra part to the name, referring to traditional print e.g. Dimensions Traditional Print or Dimensions Print Leeds.

Another point to consider was the costings of the design. During the presentation, possibly it was not made as clear how we intended to create the designs using blue cardstock as a base, which would then be screenprinted. It was suggested that the design could be refined to one colour like the flyer design as a way of significantly reducing costs.

It was said that the colour scheme was bright and eyecatching , however someone also commented that they felt the blue was quite digital.

It was said that the wayfinding was a clever way of using the cube format and provided a simple and clear format.
