Planters by Under a Rock
These planters combine urban elements such as stairs and houses to create context around the plants and vice versa, allowing the design to create a mini scene. The designs work well in creating a contrast between urban and natural elements both in terms or form and the use of materials within the design e.g. concrete vs plants. The use of varying levels within the designs and use of manmade elements within the designs create interesting structural forms which are contemporary. In the house design with the path using the space around it as a planter instantly creates the impression of a garden around the house which allows the addition of plants to add to the story / narrative created within the design.
