Development Sketches of paper designs
After deciding which places we would represent within the different clock faces and the objects / artwork that would be featured within these, some rough sketches of layouts for elements were drawn out. The paper background designs would provide context for the imagery and represent the place that the object / artwork is from.
Using Meg's rough ideas about how each illustration would look different key features of each of the places were picked out to reflect the places. Within the sketches perspective was considered and the positioning of the illustration within the design.
The design aimed to be quite simple as to not detract from the illustrations themselves.
Using print outs of the different clock faces allowed rough layouts of designs to be created around the clock hands within the clock faces. Within the animation the line running through the design would never come into contact with the illustrations allowing them to stand out within the design. However the angles of some of the clock hands within the clock faces sometimes made it difficult to position the illustration and fit in the background design. Because of this designs had to be swapped and changed between clock faces to get the best fit within the designs.
