OUGD503 - Studio Brief 2 - Hasbro Board Game (Large Individual) - Fruit Label research

Fruit Label Research

The design for the packaging is based on a netted bag and it was considered that perhaps the logotype / logo wouldn't be as clear if printed on the bag itself because of the flexibility of the bag. It was suggested that perhaps creating a label to ti around the bag could be a good way of clearly showing the branding of the game. Using fruit stickers it was suggested would be a good influence for the tag design.

Features of fruit labels:
- Fruit labels often use a restricted colour palette with certain colours associated more with certain fruits e.g. blue and yellow are often used for banannas. These colours are usually bright and bold so that they stand out on the fruit, whilst the use of complementary colours allows the elements within the designs to be visually striking and clear.
- Common shapes for a fruit sticker are mainly rounded such as circles or ovals with other shapes using rounded corners, however leaf shaped designs are also seen.
- Fruit labels keep type to a minimum and mainly use the fruit producers branding with some also identifying the country in which the fruit was produced.
- Some designs also have imagery which centres around the fruits, foliage or aspects relating to the place the fruit comes from.
