Collaboration Meet Up
Kiwi Difficulties
At this meet up Laura was having difficulties with creating the Kiwi. She had used the colour scheme and created shapes to reflect the different tonal changes within the kiwi but was't sure about it.
We looked at a real kiwi and discussed how there are dark pointed shapes that come out from the centre of the kiwi and that perhaps there needed to be a similar shape within the design.
Adding these shapes made the design look like it was radiating out a little more which was in keeping with the kiwi. However I said that perhaps the inside design was too large considering it was supposed to be a quarter circle so maybe it could be reduced.
We also discussed layering the long shapes to better reflect the tonal change within the kiwi. This was trialed with quite angular shapes as well as the shape below as this was a little more organic.
Having the pieces layered like this however looked a little busy especially when they were all the same length.
Having a shape behind the long shapes and changing them so that they fit within the colour scheme made the design look more consistent. The centre was also made more circular to fit with the rest of the shapes within the design.
For the orange we talked about having segments within the pieces. I suggested that maybe considering how the pieces would fit together when played and how the designs would interact with each other to create a whole. With this in mind it was discussed that perhaps the designs for each of the fruit should be created as a circle then cut down to a quarter afterwards as this would allow the designs to be symmetrical.
These were the refined circular designs that Laura came up with before cutting the shapes down and adding the pips.
