Different aspects of the City Patch Project
To understand what could be produced for the City Patch Project, the different elements to the charity / project were considered.
Considerations were:
- who the charity / project is aimed at with mainly 18 - 24 year olds living in the city however the project should also be suitable for a range of people from the city.
- People could buy a membership in which they support the project for a year paying monthly or all in one. The person would then receive an adoption / member pack for supporting the project e.g. newsle
tter , map etc.
- People could donate to the project if they are not a member
- People could volunteer to look after, maintain and regenerate a patch. Volunteers could then recieve a volunteer pack in which they get merchandise and essentials for tending and looking after the patch.
- People could apply to volunteer as an individual or as a group e.g. why they want to do it / experience and their ideas for the space
- People could apply for spaces to be made into patches
- Volunteers may ask for funding / run appeals to raise money to get work done to patches
- The patches would be open to the public as they would be on public land. Being able to find the patches would be important and understanding the facilities / main features of each of the patches would be needed for people to go and use the spaces.
- Volunteers would need to have some training for working on the patch
- Once volunteers were signed up they would be able to work on patches in their local area perhaps having a rota for the different volunteers could work.
- If an area is looking for new volunteers a sign could be put in patches to show the need for them.
- The project is specific to the local area creating a sense of community.
- Volunteers would need to know basic tasks to do within each season to maintain the patch
Possible things that could be created for the City Patch Project:
Adoption Pack
Volunteer Pack
Application Process
Forum / App for Volunteers
Way of finding the patches and the features of the patches
