Compost Heap Development

It was considered that perhaps the compost heap could be made from clear acrylic so that a design could be seen from each of the four sides. Alternately it was thought the a wooden box could be made with one perspex side so that the design could be seen inside. The wooden frame would have a slatted design or be made from individual pieces on cut wood to mimic the construction of a compost heap. It was thought that perhaps the different layers within the compost heap could be coloured to reflect the different items within the compost heap in some way . To reflect the process of composting, reusing and converting it was considered that circular arrows could be used to suggest that these processes are going on within the compost heap. The symbols for each of the items could be profile images to reinforce the idea of a cross section. It was also thought that perhaps the symbols could be cut from acrylic that is the same colour as the layers of sand. The symbol designs and arrows could potentially be cut as a vinyl design which is applied to the front of the compost heap rather than putting the symbols within the compost heap.
