Certificate Experimentation combining type and image
Initial experimentation for the certificate played with combining brand elements and imagery.
To allow type to use the brand colour scheme and still stand out against the imagery it was considered that the imagery could have a opacity over the top making it either green or light grey. Making the imagery a lighter or darker shade of the border colour around the image created a complementary colour scheme. However, overall the colouring of images to match the colour scheme dulled the images and didn't really help the typography over the top stand out very much.
Using a square block over the images then placing text over the top meant that the text stood out more. Using the combination of a square border and square block in the centre creates balance and symmetry within the design which makes the layout look more refined. The varied left and right aligned text however makes the design look disjointed.
It was considered that perhaps on the certificate there wasn't any need for imagery as certificates are usually only text. With this in mind it was considered that the creating a design purely from brand elements would be more appropriate. The use of a border around the certificate makes the design more refined and creates a frame within the design. Reducing the certificate to only two shades of green allows the grey type to be used over the top to create contrast.
