Experiments using Duotone Imagery for Certificate
After feedback on designs so far it was suggested that to make imagery fit with the branding duotone images could be used to help create a link between the branding and images.
Using the brand colour scheme meant that images could be duotoned using the dark green and grey, with the grey making up the shadows and the green becoming the highlights.

- Using the dark green for the background created quite a dark design and the light grey didn't look very bright against the colour.
- It was considered that using the stitch lines from the logo could act as a way of framing the image and linking it to the branding. However when the lines were scaled up they looked quite bulky which detracted form the image.
- Breaking the text up so that it was split into two sections meant that these could be placed in either corner of the design with the patch ornament and image taking up the other corners to create balance. However breaking up the typography in this way made the design look fragmented .

- Using the light green as a background colour allowed the other colours within the scheme to stand out and allowed the design to look brighter when compared with the darker green.
- Reducing the size of the image so that there is a border between this and the stitch ornament makes this aspect of the design look less bulky.
- To create hierarchy within the typography key changeable information e.g. Patch Member and Leeds Central Patch, was made a larger point size than the rest of the typography to make it stand out and allow key points to be understood quickly.
- Setting 'Thanks!' in sentence case makes this part of the design look more personal and colloquial when compared with the rest of the design.
- Colouring the key information and setting it like the logotype creates consistency and a link between the two.

- Having the patch ornament so that it goes off the pages creates the idea of green spaces expanding beyond the city.
- Using the patch ornament in this way means that all the text can be placed in a block beside it, in a similar way to how the logotype and logo are set out.
- It was considered that perhaps an image of a patch from the area wasn't needed within the design as the certificate could be double sided. This would allow imagery to be placed on one side and brand elements and typography on the other creating a natural separation between the two and allowing both aspects to be used without conflict.

- It was considered that images could be used in a similar way to the patch ornament and the square imagery could extend off the page. Using imagery in this way, combined with the type creates a good balance between the two within the design.

- It was considered that the back of the certificate cold have a full bleed image of a patch from the area that is being supported.

- Using the patch ornament over the top could be a good way of linking the branding and imagery.

- It was also thought that perhaps the image on the front could wrap around onto the back of the certificate to create continuation and consistency between back and front. This also creates a sense of intrigue as the whole image is not visible and encourages the user to interact with the design.
