Visual Imagery Reference for Symbols
To help create the symbols for each of the different elements within the compost heap visual imagery was collected for each of the items. Imagery was collected of rooks, frogs, sticks , stones , chains, grass hoppers and bees. It was considered that to represent insects, bees and grasshoppers would be used as these both make distinctive sounds. To represent the idea of previous work being reused it was thought that this could be represented through a tape which is how this music was was documented and played.
Collecting imagery of the different things from both the side and birds eye view perspective would allow symbols to be created from different angles. Potentially all of the symbols could be created as a side view to reflect the idea of a cross section however some of the items within the compost heap may be more recognisable from the birds eye view perspective.
