Designing with Word
Water Clock
A wiggly line is created using an intertwined character on
the keyboard. By overlapping this symbol, it creates the appearance of water.
This is used as a way of signifying the water within a water clock with the
lines showing the different intervals that tell the time in a water clock.
The perspective of the image is from above the object,
allowing the hole in which the water drips from to be seen, as well as the
interval lines in the inside of the bowl. The use of a monochrome colour
palette creates a sense of depth in the water section. The use of increasing
circles draws the eye into the central point. The use of flat colour in
circular shapes allowed staggered variants of colour to be added which creates
a sense of depth and three dimensional to the image.
Typography
Typography exploring the concept of time. The typography
appears to fade and go down like time does. The lines across the word creates
the illusion of disintegration.
The grains of sand are represented by O’s and the triangles
dictate the negative space around the sand timer creating the illusion of a
contained object.
Obelisk
Viewing an obelisk from above with the sun shining creating
an elongated shadow. The triangular top of the obelisk is shown with a cross.
The use of a gradient represents a shadow well as this is also darker when
closer to the object that is casting it.
Dandelion Clock
The haziness of the design reflects the fluffiness of a
dandelion seed head. This was created using the soft edge tool on Word.
