Studio Brief 2 - Object - Flipbooks

Flipbooks

The flipbooks were created using frames from a previous animation. The frames transitioned well when flipped and the books were long enough to be engaging and show a period of time. If this idea was to be taken forward the books would explore elemental time pieces such as sand timers, water clocks, incense clocks etc. The circular format would be adapted for all the flipbooks to create a cohesive set. The books were just the right size to hold in your hand so the scale does not have to be changed. When experimenting with format, the Japanese stab binding and perfect binding were the most appropriate for singular sheets of paper with no double-sided printing. The Japanese binding allowed more book to hold creating an easier flip. The perfect bound book allowed the book to be made slightly smaller.
