Clock Idents

Clock idents refer to the clock often displayed before news bulletins and the channel closedown. This clock would often be placed alongside the logo for the television station and would display the current time. These were mainly displayed as analogue clocks with a background that was static. The first TV idents were initially mechanical and working clock however they were later developed into electronic formats in the 1980s. The clock could be displayed in silence, with music or with a voice over.
