Key pieces of research were compiled within a mindmap

- Wardian Cases (sealed glass cases) allowed explorers to bring back plants from expeditions around the world. Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward discovered this idea when he discovered a fern growing in a glass bottle 
- Animals can be kept in terrariums and they are suitable for displaying plants 
- Terrariums create different environments within in them 
- Houseplants are suited to different areas within a house as their are micro climates within a home
- Houseplants have very different needs
- Indoor Gardening is a way of bringing the outdoors in 
- Different small scale tools are need for miniature gardening 
- Miniature gardening uses accessories / decorations to create scenes and tell stories as well as following the conventions of normal gardening

- miniature decorations / accessories based on the features of the environment that different houseplants come from e.g. deserts, jungle, woodland etc
- give a plant as a gift - create packaging based on Wardian Cases which were used to send plants around the world, name where the plant is from to show where it has traveled from 
- miniature decorations / accessories based on the places / countries that the plants are from
- planter patterns based on the features of the environment that the plants come from 
- create miniature gardens based on famous gardens around the UK and their defining features e.g. buildings
- create animal decorations for a terrarium reflecting the animals that live within these habitats 
- design and create a terrarium 
- Create a DIY Terrarium Kit with packaging becoming the Terrarium
- Create a series of planters for indoor / miniature gardening
