Arranging the different cut outs for the tin
- the tin design would have cut outs in the lid to allow the products to be stored upright when they were being used on site. The larger circles in the design were wide enough to slot the spray paint and paint cans within them, the wide long rectangle would be used for standing an A4 sketchbook up, whilst the smaller ones would be for A4 stencils and the smallest holes for markers.
- Compositions were created using shapes created to create a layout for the arrangement of the cut outs on the tin.
- Having the logotype vertically on the tin looked odd when viewing the design horizontally.
- Potentially there were too many elements going on in these designs, also having so many cut outs might compromise the stability of the tin.
- It was considered that perhaps both the stencils and A4 sketchbook could go in the same slot, which would simplify the design.
- Rather than having all cut outs it was thought that some of the 'holes' could be indented into the tin to allow materials to be sat on top of the box. This would be effective for the the paint can within the box as this would not be tall enough to stick out of the top of the lid when slotted into its compartment. Some of the smaller holes could also be filled in to allow spray paint caps to be placed here. The addition of an indented rectangle on the top of the box would allow people to mix their paints on the 'palette'.
