OUGD603 - Brief 5 - Live Brief - Conscious Creatives - Wildflower and Fungi Exhibition - Development - Lasercutting and creating the flowers

Lasercutting and creating the flowers

All of the shapes were then grouped based on colour so that the pieces could be cut together out of their different colours.

To create a mass of fine filaments such as in a daisy or dandelion the paper strips were rolled and glued together. These were then bent outwards to create a full looking form. Gluing the design so the laser cut side was facing outwards meant that when bent outwards the paper strips would hide this, where as if the lasercut edge was facing inwards then bent you would see the lasercut edges on top.

To create fuller looking flowers, two layers of petals were cut out then glued together so the petals aligned inbetween one another. The petals could then be bent upwards and downwards to create the impression of more petals and a more realistic flower.

Petals for the poppy were bent and curled using scissors to create a more natural appearance.

Green wire was used for the stems as this tied in well with the design itself as well as being strong enough to support the flowers.
