Street Art Images and Visuals

- geometric designs with a range of colours create a bold, bright and impactful design
- using different shades of the same colour alongside one another allows sections to reflect the same colour, whilst creating depth within the design

- using different tones of the same colour alongside one another works well in creating a sense of three dimensionality to aspects of the design
- outlining the design in black makes the colours brighter and design bold

- adding a shadow to the back of text makes the design look like its sticking out of the wall creating impact and definition
- this can be used for both more calligraphic text and block lettering

- the triangle acts as a frame for the design and makes this part of the design two dimensional, however when the fish breaks outside this triangular frame it creates a sense of the fish also coming away from the building making it three dimensional

- Different tones of the same colour and gradients create a sense of light and dark within the piece making it more three dimensional and rounded

- drop shadows using both white and black or a combination allow text to be defined on a wall

- pink lines around the main text further emphasise the sense of angularity to the ends of the strokes creating movement within the design and enhancing its three dimensional feel
- the use of white dots and lines within the text create the impression of the text being a shiny and slightly rounded surface

- the use of black background allows the all of the bright colours used within the different designs to stand out.
- gradients within these designs are less gradual and use more block colour creating bold changes in tone

- abstract designs / mark making also reflect a sense of graffiti / street art by reflecting the shapes and strokes used within the process of creating a piece of street art or tag
- using a minimal colour palette with black outline creates a strong design

- overlapping stickers create a collage of different designs, shapes and styles

Banksy

- leaving negative space within stencils allows the texture and colour of the environment in which the piece is shown to become part of the design rather than the design just covering a section of place and dominating it. Instead these works blend in with the environment in which they are placed, creating a sense that they are part of the place

- the use of minimal colour pallete (black and white mainly with some red and other colours occassionally) within these works means when colour is added it emphasises and defines elements within the design, which can be both subtle or impactful

- stencils allow detailed designs to be created in a simpler and quicker way than freehand spray painting

- multiple layers can be used for a stencil allowing different colours to be added, whilst singular block colour designs are just as effective

- using features already in the environment and adding designs to complement these creates a sense of realism in the design
