OUGD504 - Line Refinement

Finalising the Lines

Now that the lines were only going to be used on individual pages the lines could be drawn over at a smaller scale.

Using the original digital outline of the road, the adjacent roads were taken off the main road to create blobs where the junctions were.Using this as a guide diamonds were placed over these to simplify and create a cohesive shape for the junctions.

Both the road and modified beach line were printed off at the same scale, so that they could be drawn over. Using a thin pen the lines were simplified further by combining lines that were very close together into one stroke. The diamond shapes were draw so that they curved inwards more, this is more consistent than the original drawing, however still makes reference to the roads that have been taken off, through the use of the pointed corners. The canal and main road lines have also been simplified to a singular line to keep it consistent with the beach line.

Overall, visually the two lines look much more part of the same concept and the road line still communicates the junctions and additional roads in a more consistent and refined way.
