Getting ideas and feedback from other pairs
One person was also doing a travel guide and mentioned that they had looked at Lost In city guides which had use multiple imagery on each page and experimental layouts and Wallpaper* city guides which have large images and a clean minimalist approach for the whole range. These could be interesting to look at in terms of layout for the travel guide.
It was suggested that the theme of extremes in Dubai is an interesting concept and that it could be explored in many different ways.
Cereal magazine was suggested as something to look at for design inspiration.
It was said by one pair that travel guides with lots of information were off putting and that they much prefer the idea of having a guide that visually shows you the place and whether it is interesting without the need for reading lots.
Additional information about Dubai and thoughts from Serge:
- In response to the theme of extremes, it was suggested that perhaps there could be a way of making the designs three dimensional to create more of an immersive experience. In response it was commented that their would be a need for glasses to view and image in 3D which is a novel idea and perhaps contradicts the overall intended style of the book which aims to be modern, fashionable and classy.
- It was suggested that looking into traditional Arabic books could be a useful reference.
