Deciding on the interface format
Within the Interactive Design book it was found that most shopping was done across desktop, laptop, tablets and smart phones. However tablets and smart phones were used mainly for impulse shopping and browsing, whereas desktop computers and laptops are used more for retail and eccomerce stores. Desktop and laptop interfaces allow users of ecommerce sites to navigate through hundreds of items where as tablet and smart phone interfaces are stripped down for intuitive interaction.
It was considered that perhaps an app for the concept could be created because the design would aim to be very simple and easy to navigate. However tablets and smart phones are used for impulse shopping which does not fit with the concept of the site. The site aims to reduce the amount of usable reclaimed materials to landfill and for people to buy what they need rather than wasting products. Also the site would be extensive if multiple sellers and buyers were using the site so it was considered that making a website would be a more appropriate format.
