Designs from various places around the world:

New York - Niagara Falls

Washington DC - National Geographic Society Explores Hall

Florida - Universal Studios Islands of Adventure

Things noticed from the existing designs:

- A majority of the designs have a dashed dotted line or solid line around the main design in the middle
- Most have the name of the place within the design with typefaces varying. A standard typeface used over multiple designs is a sans serif with rounded terminals. Their are other typefaces are used within  the main designs so it must be possible to use alternate typefaces throughout the design.
- Their are examples of both horizontal and vertical designs
- Type is either incorporated into the main design or along the outside of the design so that it breaks up the outside dotted or solid line
- Some designs print the logo of the place or attraction on the reverse of the penny
- Imagery is often outlined for the most definition with some areas raised to create areas of filled shapes
- A design is usually restricted to a particular sized oval shape
- Imagery is usually focused around key aspects or highlights of the place / attraction or the logo of the place with one coin representing one thing
- Individual Penny Machines press a set of four designs
- Complex images look best with raised areas rather than all outlined as this can look quite busy and less distinctive and creates little distinction between the image and text
