Collaboration Meet Up
Things discussed:
- we looked through some of the games that I had researched and discussed the pros and cons of the different formats
- the brief said that the game needed to be a fun, fast party game so we said that some of the more complicated games perhaps wouldn't be suitable for the brief
- it was also questioned as to what roles we would have and what would be expected in terms of outcomes however it was discussed that this wouldn't be known until we pick a game
- it was said that some of the games perhaps wouldn't have as much to do because of their simplicity e.g. the dice games, and potentially there wouldn't be as much room to adapt them, however that's not to say we couldn't do one of them, because they would be fast paced which would fit the brief.
- we discussed the success of Bananagrams and how a larger game could be adapted to be only a part of the original game. Also within that game there is an element of speed and it is adaptable to different amounts of players which are things we could bring into our own game.
- It was decided overall that Dominoes was a classic that everyone knows but has scope for new symbols to be introduced that could radically change the speed and dynamic of the game.
- Toma Vagners style of illustration in her game posters stood out to both of us and could possible be a reference for our own work.
Things we need to do for the next meet up:
- research into Dominoes further e.g. look at variations etc
- Jot down some ways the game could be adapted and altered to become something new
Next Meet Up : 31 / 1 / 18
